Korb and Associates

The office of Korb & Associates is the optometric practice of Doctors Donald Korb, Victor Finnemore and Joan Exford. Established in 1930 by Dr. Frederick Farnum, it is one of the oldest continuing practices in the country and is dedicated to providing the highest standard of professional care. At the forefront in the field of contact lenses since their introduction in 1946, the practice enjoys a national and international reputation which continues to attract patients from around the world.

The objectives of Korb & Associates are excellence in clinical care and research in the areas of contact lenses and dry eye. This combination of clinical practice and research activities provides a unique setting which is particularly beneficial to patients with complex contact lens problems, keratoconus and dry eye. The research, often conducted in collaboration with other academic and health care disciplines, has resulted in over 100 professional publications, 40 patents, and many eye care products used throughout the world. Examples include the original “membrane” soft contact lens which has served as the design model for all contemporary soft contact lenses, the DET™ test for dry eye, and the design concept for fitting contact lenses for keratoconus. Our research also resulted in 2 consumer products: Soothe XP™ by Bausch and Lomb and Systane Balance™ by Alcon. These are the only marketed solutions for the most common form of dry eye: evaporative lipid dry eye.

Specialized diagnostic techniques, many of which have been invented by Korb & Associates, aid in the diagnosis of dry eye, contact lens discomfort, and contact lens vision problems. The practice pioneered and currently specializes in the area of keratoconus management and contact lens fitting.
